CELIA'S POLISH CUKES
Bring to boil + let cool
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups white vinegar
1/4 tsp alum
add 1/4 cup salt
Line bottom of gallon jar with fresh dill & 2 garlic cloves. Cut ends of cukes & stand them up in the jar. Add 2 cloves of garlic. Add more cukes & add 2 more garlic cloves. (6 cloves in all).
Add 1 tablespoon pickling spice. Then pour the cooled off liquid over the cukes.
Let stand at room temperature, but do not put cover on tightly, just loose. You can put a cloth over the top of jar with an elastic to keep cloth in place.
About a week or week & a half at room temperature, you refrigerate it. Or check & see if you think it needs to be refrigerated sooner, then do so.
