Description
325°
1 lb. dough
Melted & skimmed:
1/2 lb. butter
3/4 lb Crisco
Mix together:
1 cup walnuts crushed
2 tsps. sugar
Place 1/2 of the layers in pan 9 x 13.
Pour nuts in middle.
Place other 1/2 of dough on top of nuts. Cut into squares.
Pour small part of melted fat over the squares. Must be hot.
Put in oven about 10 min.
Take out when beige color and pour reheated fat over the dough, the dough will sizzle.
Put back in oven until golden brown (about 10 min.) middle rack, then recut squares.
Syrup
Boil for 10 min:
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1 capful of lemon juice
Set pakhlava & syrup to one side & let cool.
Place cool pakhlava in 325° oven for 3 or 4 min. only. Then pour cool syrup over it.
When cool place each square in tinfoil cups.
