Description
This lace was sent to my grandfather, Charles Aghajanian, by Aram Aidjian's sister for his taking care of his first cousin Aram's funeral arrangements. Aram died from complications from gas poisoning fighting for the United States in WWI. Aram's sister made the lace and sent it from Istanbul where she lived at the time. We don't know her name. Like many families, ours was split with some relatives making it out and others not so fortunate. It was this piece of lace that sent me on a quest to see if I could find the descendants of the maker of this lace, and if we still had relatives still in Turkey or elsewhere in the region. I have found Aidjian relatives, but have not been able to piece together this mystery yet. Source
