Description
1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup shortening
1 egg well beaten
1 cup (persimmon) pulp
1-3/4 cup quick oats
1/2 cup nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
Sift together flour, sugar, soda, salt,
nutmeg + cinnamon. Cut in shortening.
Add egg, pulp, oats + nuts.
Beat until thoroughly blended. Drop by
tsp. full about 1-1/2" apart on ungreased
sheet. Bake at 400° for 15 or more minutes.
About 3-1/2 dozen.

I have now used this recipe twice and we really enjoyed them. It reminded me of my grandmother's baking. Thank you for sharing your history with us.
