Description
½ Cup Shortening
1 ¼ Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Cup Hot Water
½ Cup Cocoa
1 ½ Cups Flour
½ tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Vanilla
Cream shortening and add sugar gradually. Blend in well beaten eggs slowly and add hot water to cocoa and mix until smooth. Stir until it has been dissolved completely. Sift flour, salt, soda, and baking powder together, and add to creamed mixture alternately with hot water and cocoa mixture. Blend in vanilla. Pour in pan eight-inch square pan, and bake it for about 50 to 55 minutes in a moderate oven.
