The Masoomians
Description
The Masoomians were related to the Aghajanians through Rose's grandfather Jeremiah. Apet Masoomian (standing) was Jeremiah's sister's (Abla) son. Her husband did not make it out of Arapkir alive. From left to right, Nishan, Roxy, Christina (holding Lucy) and Ruth.Apet's sister Rose, lived in Haverhill married to a man who unfortunately contracted tuberculosis, was sent to a sanatorium, and sadly took his own life by jumping out of a window. One of Apet's bother's lived in NYC and worked as a photo engraver and his other brother lived in Worcester, both names unknown.
Grace Masoomian was the daughter of Apet's brother from Worcester. She had one boy named Zaven and three daughters, names unknown. Zaven ended up working at a classical music station in NYC, but that's all we know.
The Masoomians had an extremely hard time during the Depression. They eventually moved to NYC where Apet took a job with a relative, Khatchador Keosaian, in a factory painting beer trays. Khatchador was said to have drank a quart of milk a day to counter the paint fumes in the factory, but it didn't work.
