Says Armenians Used It For a Bathtub,
Whitinsville Man Bars the Public
From Fine Water Supply,
WHITINSVILLE, Aug 14 -The spring on the back road from Whitinsville to Linwood, which has long been noted for its Inexhaustible supply of pure water, has been closed to the public by its owner, Patrick Holland.
Mr Holland gives as his reason for closing the spring the fact that his Armenian neighbors have been using It for a bathtub and washing their feet in 1t. During the recent dry spell most of the people in the Plummers district obtained their drinking water from this spring. William Knowlton, a former owner of the spring, gave the town or Northbridge the right to feed a watering trough from the spring. and for years this trough has never been dry on account of a lack of water. Residents of Plummers are talking of petitioning the selectmen to put in a drinking fountain in connection with the watering trough. complained Mr. Holland has of the Armenians several times, but as this did not seem to do any good he fenced in the spring.
